Draft nomination dossier of Hikone Castle had submitted.

Shiga Prefecture and Hikone City made the draft nomination dossier needed for Hikone Castle’s inscription on 2024, and had submitted it to Agency for Cultural Affairs on June 28th, 2022. Nomination dossier is a document that explains Outstanding Universal Value of property and plans for conservation of it, and is drafted by the official local institution. Government will officially submit it to UNESCO after deciding nomination. The contents of draft nomination dossier will be discussed by the National Cultural Council held by Agency for Cultural Affairs. The nomination will be usually decided through the discussion of this council.

Drafts of executive summary, nomination dossier and Comprehensive Preservation and Management Plan are the submitted documents. Each of documents is made with reflecting the result of considering and advices by experts.

*Every March, draft nomination dossier is submitted to Agency for Cultural Affairs, however, it was June 30, 2022 in this year following its instructions.

-Executive summary (15 pages)

This is an executive summary of nomination dossier of which format is provided by UNESCO. It has a pretty important role for discussion or consideration, and is required to show Hikone Castle’s value or features simply. We have repeatedly considered it for its submission.

-Draft nomination dossier (about 200 pages)

This is documents that explain Hikone Castle’s value as World Heritage Site and conservation system for it.

-Comprehensive Preservation and Management Plan (about 100 pages)

This is necessary annex documents for nomination that arrange various plans of conservation for Hikone Castle and its surroundings.
