Shiga Prefecture and Hikone City resigned “Agreement about promoting Hikone Castle World Heritage Inscription” on May 13th, 2023 to aim to achieve inscription in cooperation with promoting powerfully.

Background

Shiga Prefecture and Hikone City had signed “Agreement about promoting Hikone Castle World Heritage Inscription” on February 19th, 2020 by Governor Mikazuki and Mayor Okubo. However, its expiration date is March, 2025. This is because that they set expiration followed goal to have nomination on 2022 and be inscribed on 2024 at that time.

However, “Sado Island Gold Mines” was re-nominated on 2022, the nomination schedule of Hikone Castle had been influenced.

Shiga Prefecture and Hikone City resigned an Agreement of which expiration is until Hikone Castle’s inscription to clarify their continuous cooperation and promotion.
