- Shiga Prefecture and Hikone City jointly held Expert Committee for Hikone Castle World Heritage Inscription Advocacy.
- Thanks to a donation by the Hikone Chamber of Commerce and Industry, World Heritage studies course at Shiga University and World Heritage local and human development course at University of Shiga Prefecture held.
- Shiga Prefecture and Hikone City signed an agreement on promoting Hikone Castle’s World Heritage inscription (February).
- Shiga Prefecture and Hikone City submitted nomination dossier draft to the Agency for Cultural Affairs for the first time (March).
